Course Overview
This nationally recognised Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy course builds on standard first aid skills and prepares participants to respond to high-risk, complex medical emergencies where advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy may be required. Training is delivered in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines and the First Aid Code of Practice. Through practical, scenario-based training, you’ll learn how to use and maintain specialised resuscitation equipment, provide oxygen safely, and manage life-threatening conditions until emergency services arrive.
This course is suitable for people working in environments where oxygen equipment is available or where an elevated level of emergency response is required.
Prerequisite: HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
(HLTAID003 is not equivalent and cannot be accepted)

What You’ll Learn
You’ll develop advanced lifesaving skills, including how to:
Perform CPR on adults and infants
Use bag-valve-mask (BVM) resuscitation equipment
Use an AED safely and effectively
Administer oxygen therapy at correct flow rates
Insert basic airway adjuncts
Manage life-threatening bleeding using:
- Tourniquets
- Haemostatic dressings
Maintain and check resuscitation and oxygen equipment
Monitor and record a casualty’s condition
Communicate incident details clearly to emergency services
Complete workplace incident documentation
Participate in debriefing and recognise psychological impacts
Course Structure
1. Online – Pre-course learning modules and multiple-choice quiz.
2. Face-to-face – In person course recap and practical assessments, Advanced resuscitation, oxygen therapy, airway, and bleeding control scenarios
3. Certification – Digital Statement of Attainment issued upon successful completion.
Duration – Online Pre-Course Learning & Practical
Online learning: approximately 60–90 minutes
Practical training: 90 - 120 minutes
Entry Requirements
- Pre-Requisite of HLTAID011 Provide First Aid which much be completed with or prior to undertaking this unit. ( HLTAID003 Provide First Aid is no longer valid.)
- Ability to perform 2 minutes of CPR on the floor. - Internet device for online pre-course learning.

Assessment
Online multiple-choice exam and Practical demonstrations of CPR with oxygen, BVM use, bleeding control, and digital incident report form.
Certificate Validity
Valid for 12 months (industry recommended renewal period)
