Most employers require CPR and water rescue skills to be refreshed annually.
A Pool Lifeguard refresher updates your skills in water rescue, CPR and first aid. It’s usually:
- Required annually by most employers
- About 8 hours (may vary)
- Includes practical assessments
- Must hold a current HLTAID011 and full lifeguard certification
Contact us for upcoming refresher dates.
We recommend refreshing before expiry. Some workplaces may allow a 2-week grace period, but you must not work without valid certification.
Yes. Working without valid certification may result in policy breaches or legal non-compliance. Always check with your employer or insurer.
Yes, for some:
- HLTAID015 requires HLTAID011 or HLTAID014
- Pool Lifeguard requires HLTAID011 and a swim test
- SISCAQU021 requires SISCAQU020 and open water confidence
The course you need will depend on your workplace and industry requirements.
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is the standard first aid course for most workplaces.
HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting is required for childcare workers.
Check with your employer or industry body if you are unsure which course is required.
